He is 4 months old, neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, had his first set of FVRCP shots, and has tested negative for FELV. Silver is healthy and thriving. He was discovered as a stray with a severe leg injury. The home owner trapped him and got him veterinary care. Silver needed to have his leg amputated above the knee. He gets around great, has no mobility problems. He just happens to be a lovable tripod now. Silver is being fostered in TorC and lives in a home. The home owner is moving and cannot take Silver with her. He is not tame but also not feral. She can pet him for short periods but he does hide much of the time. He never is "bitey" or "scratchy" when she is close to him -- he's loving and gentle -- but does have some fear remaining. He's had a lot of trauma in his little life as the severe leg injury is thought to have been perpetrated by a human. It is understandable why sweet little Silver is taking some time to warm up to people. His foster mom is sure he's eager to be tamer and said he does really like petting and her attention. He is highly food motivated so that has helped her in petting him and helping him be close to her more often. She thinks a good home for him is one with people that can give Silver the time he needs to adjust to his surroundings and love him no matter what. Silver is litter box trained and he likes to sleep and rest in an open crate. She will provide toys, food, litter, and his litter box upon adoption.
