Hello there! My name is JJ and I'm a sweetheart of a girl-kitty. When people first meet me they usually think two things. First, they think that I have sort of an unusual name for a girl: JJ. My name used to be Joyce before I arrived here at Desert Haven Animal Refuge. I respond to both JJ and Joyce so you can call me either name when you come to meet me. The second thing people remark is that I am simply gorgeous, which, if I may be so bold, is completely true. I have this beautiful gray coat of fur with dusty pink speckles dotted throughout my body. Scrumptious! As I mentioned, I live here at Desert Haven and this is a safe place for me to live until I'm adopted. They have this great program called Kitty Cuddling. I've been a happy recipient of lots of Cuddling from a friendly gentleman Kitty Cuddler named Bob. Bob took special interest in me because he sensed I wanted to be petted but he also sensed I was afraid of humans. He was right on both counts! Was it something from my childhood that made me a little worried about whether or not humans would be kind to me? I don't know for sure as I don't remember much from my time before Desert Haven. But what I do know is the nice people here providing what I need: good health, good food, a safe and warm place to live and sleep, and fur-friends so I can hang out with pals. I have a notched ear which indicates I've been a stray in my past and was spayed -- so -- no babies for me! Plus, I'm a senior (I'll be 12 years old on June 29) so I certainly wouldn't want to be mothering babies anymore whew! Alright, back to Bob. He earned my trust and has been such a light in my life and so now I feel so good about humans! My first thought now is that humans will be kind to me when I meet them. Now I will even let some of the other volunteers here pet me too. Trust feels good! Petting feels good! YAY! I would like a patient person to love me through and through, no matter how long it takes me to open up to their petting and gentle hands. I have no doubt that with a family and a home I will thrive. I have just had a dental and examination at the vet, so I have a clean bill of health. Do you want to help me live a comfy second phase of my life? Let's do this life together, friend.
