My name is Kade. My family has come to the unfortunate and extremely difficult decision to find a new forever home for me. To inquire about adopting me, call my dad, Dennis at 609-471-5862. I live in Albuquerque and my dad is willing to travel if the right home for me is a distance away from Albuquerque.
I was rescued by them from a high-kill shelter when I was about 6 months old. Today, I am a 5 year old shepherd/hound mix weighing about 40 lbs. I have always been an anxious dog, but recently that anxiety has manifested into aggressive episodes. About two weeks ago, while my family was out of town, I bit both of our landlords while they were looking after me. This event seems to be the coming-to-a-head of a trajectory my family has been trying so hard, for so long, to reverse.
I am generally a mild-mannered dog who prefers to sleep and lounge throughout the day. (That said, I also absolutely love going on walks and runs, too!) I am completely house trained, I know a handful of tricks and basic obedience, and I get along perfectly with my dog-sibling. I am play-motivated.
My family feels they are not properly equipped to provide the training, structure, or environment I need to be the happiest I can be. In the right home, with people that are more experienced with these behaviors so they know how to help me, I will be a great companion and a loving pet.
My owners are very familiar with my triggers, patterns, and demeanor, and are very willing to discuss more in detail to see if I am the right fit for your home and skill level. I am sure this is not a hopeless situation I am in. I just need owners that can figure this out for me and help me.
Their hearts are broken, and mine will be too. But they want to do what is best for me and it simply cannot be in my first family. I am in search of my next family to love me. I will do my very best, I promise. Love, Kade
