Hi there, I'm Champ! You know those types of dogs that glom onto you and need you every second of the day? That's not me. Don't get me wrong -- I will love my family completely and I am always ready for an adventure at the drop-of-a-hat. In addition, I will certainly take all the petting and affection you want to give me, and I will enjoy every minute of it -- but -- I also enjoy my down time and have an independent streak. When some of the dogs are jumping with excitement at the gate as the volunteers come to hang out with us, I am calmly and patiently waiting for my turn to have fun with the people. I like to lay on a soft blankie or doggie bed while I wait for a turn. Why waste all that energy being overly excitable? That's just not my style. I think I'd be well-described as a Chill Coolio. Champ the Chill Coolio, that has a good ring to it, don't you think!? I think I will do well in a family that wants a playful, happy dog that knows how to entertain himself too. My family will also want a smart dog. I know commands and am eager for more learning. I like to learn and engage with my person -- and treats! I love treats and I am motivated by them. Treats, treats, treats, yummo! So, if you think I am the dog for you, come to meet me! I will be happy to see you and I bet we will hit it off!
