Hello hello hello! My name is Blackie and I am a Cutie Patootie! That's what I keep hearing the volunteers call me since I arrived here at Desert Haven. I'm actually a 35-or-so pound wire-haired Australian Shepherd black-and-tan, one-year-old dog -- but "Come Here You Cutie Patootie" is what I hear so let's go with that! So when you come here to meet me you can call me Blackie or Cutie Patootie and I'll answer to both. I think Cutie Patootie must be synonymous with Honey Pie and Good Boy because those are the other names I keep hearing when they talk to me. At any rate, another thing I am is pretty nice to take out for a walk. I don't pull much, and have a decent start on some leash training skills. I'm still young as I just turned one-year-old so of course I have some learning to do. I'd like to learn some commands, learn my home's routine, and learn all about love. I have my heart wide open to love and I when I have my family's love I will hold it, treasure it, take care of it. I meet people in a friendly way so I'm very excited to get visitors. We can go for a walk and after we hang out for awhile I would like to give you some kisses. Once we're friends, I'll step my paws onto your lap and snuggle in for a cuddle. Not only good with people, I am also good with dogs too and I have a doggie roommate named Red. We play together, sleep together, eat together. I think I'd do great with a doggie friend in my new home. In fact, if you'd like to adopt two dogs -- maybe you want to meet Red as well as meeting me! Adopting us both is definitely not required -- we're not a bonded pair -- we just happen to enjoy each other's company. Isn't that great!? Having friends is so important.
