Hey hey hey! I'm Shorty! I know, I know. My name is very, how shall I put this ... expected. I'm a boy dog with these short Corgi legs and got the name Shorty. Not very imaginative but that's alright! I think it's a cute name and well, I do have these short stubby legs so if the name fits, embrace it is what I say! But, let's get imaginative now shall we? Let's imagine I'm yours. This is what it might look like if I'm part of your family. I'm a calm adult at around 2-3 years of age. So, while I might jump up a little when I first meet you because I'm so happy to meet you, I settle in very quickly into a belly-rub-lovin, chillaxin, Netflix-watchin, easy-to-take-care-of gentleman. I don't bark much at all. I sit very nice when my harness is being put on so we can take a nice leisurely stroll around the neighborhood. When we come across other dogs, I might look to you for support and safety because I have had some not-great experiences with dogs in the past leading me to retreat and even cower and be fearful when encountering dogs. I have made friends with a puppy so I have some hope that with proper introduction and support from my family, I maybe can get on the other side of my fear feelings. My puppy buddy and I play and hang out and spend a lot of time together. The only thing I don't do with him is eat my meals. I have a worry that he's going to steal my food so we are fed our meals separately. I am crate-trained and do a wonderful job in my crate. I usually just snooze when I'm having time in my crate. Well, I must say, I do a lot of snoozing! Cat naps are my favorite and I'd call myself a couch potato lounger for sure. If your lap is open and you'd like me in it -- I will happily and eagerly accommodate! I would adore being a Lap Dog, even at 40 pounds! I think I fit perfectly in laps even though I have that l o n g Corgi body. Speaking of cats, I've been around them and done well, however I do like to play with the cats and for a fragile cat I might play too rough. So, depending on the cat, maybe I could meet the kitty at the home visit to see if we're a good match together. That leads me to kids. Oh boy! I love children. I like to be with them but I am so happy around kids that I will jump in exuberance. This means I could live well with children but they should be older, and sturdy so I don't knock them over.
